Chairman Wise opened the meeting at 2:05 pm. He stated that the first part of the meeting would be devoted to review of marine resource legislation currently pending before the New York State Legislature. Afterwards, the Council would again discuss proposed 2001 New York recreational summer flounder (fluke) regulations in light of the recent decision by the Atlantic States Marine Fishery Commission (ASMFC) to lower its 2001 Total Allowable Landings (TAL) for fluke from 20.5 million lbs. to 17.91 million lbs.
