Chairman Wise reminded the Council that, at its last meeting, it decided to create a working group that would discuss and make recommendations on changes to the current commercial open season for weakfish so as to allow all gear types an equitable opportunity to participate in this fishery. This group, which will include Councilors Mason, Jordan, and Freierman as well as several other individuals involved in the commercial weakfish fishery, has not yet met but will meet before the Council’s September 2003 meeting.
