In reviewing and discussing this year’s marine resource legislation, the Council first took up those bills that have been newly introduced in 2004 and bills that had been resubmitted from the previous legislative session on which the Council had not previously taken a position. Next to be reviewed were marine resource bills that have been refiled from a previous legislative session on which the Council has an existing position supporting or opposing them.
The account below gives the essential features of each bill, the salient points of the Council’s discussion of it, and any action taken by the Council to either support or oppose the bill. For those refiled bills on which the Council has an existing position, the account includes, in italics, a summary of the Council’s original discussion of the bill that led to this position. This is followed by any Council discussion and action on this bill at the present meeting (2004).
