OpeningChairman Wise began the meeting at 2:10 p.m. He introduced Mr. James (Jim) Gilmore, who had been recently named to replace Mr. Gordon Colvin as Director of Marine Resources for DEC. Mr. Colvin had left the Department for a position with the National Marine Fisheries Service. Mr. Gilmore gave a brief overview of his personal and employment history. Since 1994, he has been the Natural Resources Supervisor in DEC's Region 2 (New York City). Prior to that, Mr. Gilmore had been the Marine Resources Manager for Region 2. He began his career with DEC as a marine resources specialist with the Division of Marine Resources in DEC's Stony Brook office. The councilors introduced themselves to Mr. Gilmore. Mr. Wise then introduced Mr. John Renaldo, who had recently been appointed to the Council as a recreational fishery representative, replacing Mr. Jack Ferrera, who had resigned some time ago. Draft Minutes, 17 July 2007 Council Meeting Councilor John Davi, Jr. was concerned that the copy of the Council's Tautog Management Subcommittee report which accompanied the draft minutes did not clearly stipulate that the Subcommittee recommended no change to the daily possession limit of 25 tautog allowed to licensed commercial fishermen, including licensed lobster fishermen with no lobsters aboard, and he asked that the minutes be revised to do so. Councilor Melissa Dearborn asked that the minutes be revised to reflect that she attended the 17 July 2007 meeting. The minutes were unanimously adopted with the above two changes.
