At the last meeting of the Council, in September 2007, information was distributed describing the Marine Recreational Information Program that has been developed by the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) to address the criticisms that were levied against it Marine Recreational Fishing Statistics Survey (MRFSS) in the National Research Council’s assessment of that program.  They had been attached to the minutes and bulletin from that meeting.  Chairman Wise welcomed any comments on the above program, but none was forthcoming from the Council at this time.

Mr. Wise informed the Council that, as it had directed at the September meeting, he has reconstituted the Saltwater Recreational Fishing License Discussion Group to reassess the need for a state saltwater fishing license in view of the pending federal marine angler registry program.  The group will meet on 26 November 2007 at the Sportfishing Education Center in Cedar Beach at 7:00 p.m.
