Councilor Knobel asked how the activities of DECs Shellfish Advisory Committee (SAC) were coordinated with those of the Marine Resources Advisory Council. Councilor Relyea said he had been attending SAC meetings. At the autumn meeting they had been told to contact legislators about solving the DEC staffing problems, so that was exactly what he had done. Mr. Wise thanked Councilor Relyea for his effectiveness in highlighting to the Legislature how important it was to fill vacant DEC positions. The Council agreed that better integration of SAC activities with those of the Council would be desirable. Inviting Jeffrey Kassner, chairman of the SAC, to a future Council meeting was discussed. Mr. Colvin suggested checking that all SAC members were on the MRAC bulletin distribution list; MRAC members should also be receiving SAC mailings.
