Councilor Sullivan asked what had been the DECís reaction to the Council's recommendation that the opening of the recreational striped bass season be advanced from 08 May to 22 April. This, clearly, had not occurred. Mr. Colvin responded that the Department wished to get Amendment 6 to the Interstate Striped Bass Management Plan completed and adopted before any significant changes to the state's striped bass regulations were considered. Amendment 6 is scheduled to be adopted by ASMFC in October 2002.

Mr. Mihale asked that the start of the commercial striped bass season be made coincident with that of the recreational fishing season.
