Councilor Ferrera reported that two Nassau County legislators have drafted a bill that would prohibit offshore fishing tournaments from being held when small craft advisories were in effect. This idea is being resisted by many recreational fishing industry members, who plan to meet with the legislators involved to attempt to revise the current language of the bill in a way that will promote the safety of persons involved in these events but not completely shut them down.
