Summer Flounder

Mr. Colvin informed the Council that the current commercial trip limit for summer flounder was 140 lbs.  However, harvest rates in the commercial summer flounder fishery are more than twice what had been projected and allotted for the current period.  DEC will be examining this situation closely and, if catch rates appear to increase in the near future, the trip limit will be reduced.

Bluefish

On 01 June 2004, the commercial trip limit for bluefish is scheduled to increase to 1,500 lbs.  The Department has been requested to raise it a little early (before 01 June 2004) and a notice will be shortly sent out announcing the new trip limit, which is presently 1,000 lbs.
