Chairman William Wise reviewed the meeting agenda.

Mr. Gordon Colvin, Director of Marine Resources for DEC reminded the Council and meeting visitors that, following the Council meeting there would be a public hearing on the draft Addendum I to Amendment VI of the ASMFC Striped Bass Management Plan.  Addendum I proposes to establish a data collection program to assess the accuracy of the fishery discard estimates in the striped bass fisheries so that the effect of discards on recreational release mortality of striped bass can be more accurately estimated.

Mr. Colvin asked that an update on plans for 2007 management of bluefish, fluke, scup and sea bass be added to the meeting agenda.  He would like to give the Council a “heads-up” concerning when and what changes to expect in fisheries for these species.

The draft minutes of the 16 May 2006 Council meeting could not be voted on at the 18 July 2006 Council meeting because there was not a quorum of councilors at that meeting.  They were approved as written at the present meeting

The draft minutes of the Council's 18 July 2006 meeting were also approved as written.
