Employment Opportunities Communications ManagerStony Brook University's School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (SoMAS, http://www.somas.stonybrook.edu) is searching for a talented professional to serve as the School's Communications Manager. The Communications Manager organizes and administers media relations and communications activities to raise public awareness and understanding of SoMAS's research and instructional programs. Additionally, the position assists the Dean and Director of SoMAS to implement activities associated with a state-wide initiative in ecosystem-based management (EBM) of marine and Great Lakes resources. Minimum qualifications for this position are a bachelor’s degree in marine science, an environmental science, or in a related field (e.g., biology, ecology, conservation, journalism) and fours years' administrative/technical full-time experience. The preferred candidate will have a masters degree in marine or an environmental science or in a related field (e.g., biology, ecology, conservation, journalism), and prior work experience with a university, government agency, consulting firm or nongovernmental organization.
