Postdoctoral Research Associate

Required Qualifications: PhD completed before commencing the position. Strong analytical, statistical, and scientific writing skills. Compatibility with team-oriented work environment required. Knowledge and training in fish biology, ecology, or evolution.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in meta-analysis and research on live organisms, especially fishes.

Brief Description of Duties:

  • Field studies using nets such as trawls or beach seines to collect near-shore marine fish in the wild. Some of this field sampling will take place on the west coast and some of it takes place on the east coast.
  • Experiments involve rearing eggs, larvae, and juvenile fish under controlled conditions in captivity and determining their responses to variation in environmental factors like temperature. The experiments will take place at the Flax Pond Lab in Old Field or at our other lab in Bluepoints, NY.
  • Data analysis.
  • Meta analysis.
  • Maintenance of lab fish stock.
  • Manuscript preparation.
  • Assisting in overall lab activities.

Special Notes: This is a full time position. The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Night and weekends work may be required.
